PTO Meeting Minutes 12-5-13

SCDS PTO Minutes

Tax Credit Push      

-Our goal is to reach $50,000 by Dec. 18th in order for the PTO to receive $10,000

-Peter Gillman, Accountant, will create a worksheet with examples on how the tax credit will affect different families/incomes.

-Kathy agreed to offer incentives for the participating families children

            Ex: No homework

                  Date night with teacher

                  Free after school clubs

-Kathy will compile families’ demographic in order to offer the proper incentives to motivate families to participate and so everyone is aware of who can offer a specific service.

-Brittney and Shannon will be calling parents in efforts to find more participants and answer their questions.

 

Create Committees

-It was agreed that committees need to be created to help chair events:

            -1 person should chair each event and be point of contact.

            -Kathy will pull names of volunteers on Shutterfly and send introductory email in efforts to find volunteers.

            -Classroom mom is to send out an email to parents in search of volunteers.

            -There were no volunteers at today’s meeting for the upcoming events.

Field

-The grass is scheduled to be installed the 2nd week of Dec.

-Kathy will talk to the Synagogue in regards to rental fees for the field for upcoming events.

-Steve let us know we can host 2 events on the field per year without charge.

Upcoming Events

  1.  Tie Dye Day was set for Wed. Dec. 18th in the lunch room or science lab.
  2. Coffee & snacks will start Fri. Dec. 6th at 8am and will be done every morning. Hot cocoa will be sold in the afternoon on the last half day Friday. (Amy & Robin are in charge of this event)
  3. Business Book – Judy Hudek to work on.
  4. CPK night was cancelled for the month of December.
  5. BIG SPRING AUCTION:

    -It was the decided the event would be an ADULT ONLY event. (Hawaiian Theme)

    -Will be chaired by the PTO

    -Johanna will talk to Phoenix & Scottsdale Culinary School in regards to venue.

    -Other options are: Herb Box (Susan), The Sheraton, The Vig, Chelsea’s Kitchen…etc.

    -Kathy will reach out to parents to find volunteers.

 

Other

-Kathy will talk to Mid First Bank about their truck and coin drive program.
