Erin Sandler

Hello! I am so excited to be teaching fourth and fifth grades at Scottsdale Country Day School!

I grew up in southern Idaho and, after high school, moved to New Jersey to be a nanny. It was a big move for me, as I had never been on an airplane! I was ready for an adventure! While living in New Jersey, I attended William Paterson University and earned my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. During this time, I also got married and had my first child. Wanting to be closer to family, we moved out west and settled in Arizona. I had my second child and continued to enjoy being at home with both children. I had always wanted to be a teacher, so in 2009, I started school at Rio Salado College. I completed my student teaching at Redfield Elementary School in the 4th/5th grade classroom. I earned my teaching certification in June 2011. I taught my first year at Kachina Country Day School. I was the teacher for the 4th/5th/6th grade class. I joined Scottsdale Country Day School for the 2012 - 2013 school year as the Junior High teacher. For the 2013 - 2014 school year, I was the 5th/6th grade teacher.

I absolutely love teaching! My philosophy is:

I believe that every child deserves to learn in an environment that is safe, respectful, supportive, and fun. My goal as a teacher to is create that environment in my classroom and help each and every student reach their full potential. Every child learns differently, and it is my job as a teacher to adapt my lessons to the different learning styles of my students. I want my students to become responsible, accountable, and caring people.

Other things about me: I love hiking, walking, baking, crafting, treasure hunting in thrift stores, and spending time with my family. I look forward to a great year at Scottsdale Country Day School!
